The baseball world’s loss has been a gain for Jim Matthews’ clients.
Before he became a lawyer, Jim played baseball at Georgia Southern, and he was selected in the 10th round of the 1978 amateur draft by the Atlanta Braves. After he spent a few years in the Major League Baseball club’s minor league system, he decided to pursue another career path.
Jim went on to earn his law degree from the University of Georgia in 1983, and he has been practicing law in Georgia ever since.
As an attorney with Blasingame, Burch, Garrard & Ashley, P.C., he has obtained substantial verdicts and settlements on behalf of numerous severely injured personal injury victims and has helped to bolster the law firm’s reputation throughout Georgia and the Southeast.
“All of our lawyers are truly respected by other lawyers and judges,” he says. “And we never hesitate to put the necessary resources into our cases.”
In his spare time, Jim remains involved in baseball. He serves as a scout for the St. Louis Cardinals, with whom he collected a World Series ring in 2006. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and their three children.
