Contact Attorneys With Unparalleled Experience in Transvaginal Mesh Litigation
Since 2006, our product liability attorneys have devoted a substantial portion of our practice to representing women harmed by transvaginal surgical mesh products. We have researched transvaginal mesh product manufacturers and investigated the various defects involving urogynecologic surgical mesh devices. We have been helping women injured by transvaginal mesh products since years before the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued its initial public health notification about transvaginal mesh risks in 2008.
We understand the serious medical complications caused by mesh when used for pelvic organ prolapse (POP) repairs and treatment of stress urinary incontinence (SUI). Because of our expertise, we are often called upon to share our knowledge about transvaginal mesh product liability with other attorneys. Senior partner Henry Garrard, III, recently served as a faculty member at the continuing legal education seminar on transvaginal mesh sponsored by the American Association for Justice, and he is a faculty member at the upcoming Transvaginal Mesh HB Litigation Conference. Partner Josh Wages was a presenter on Avaulta Mesh Litigation at the “Mass Torts Made Perfect” legal seminar in Las Vegas in April 2011.
Our product liability attorneys have taken transvaginal mesh cases to trial and successfully resolved over one hundred transvaginal mesh cases — more than any law firm in the nation.
Over the years that we have been actively involved in this litigation, we have developed an international network of experts on various aspects of transvaginal mesh.
Senior partner Henry Garrard, III, served as lead counsel and liaison counsel for the plaintiffs in the Mentor Corp. ObTape Transobturator Sling Products Liability Litigation. In the Avaulta Pelvic Support Systems Products Liability Litigation, Mr. Garrard serves as lead counsel for the plaintiffs and is a member of the plaintiffs’ steering committee. Mr. Garrard’s legal views have appeared in prominent newspapers such as The Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune and Florida Today, as well as in television interviews, because of his recognized expertise in transvaginal mesh product liability law.
A number of medical device manufacturers have introduced gynecological transvaginal mesh products in recent years. The FDA currently regulates the products as Class II, which means that the devices have been placed on the market without clinical testing for safety or effectiveness. In 2010, approximately 300,000 women underwent surgery to repair pelvic organ prolapse and about 260,000 women underwent procedures to treat stress urinary incontinence. Unfortunately, many will suffer complications as a result of transvaginal mesh.
